What is ClixSense?

ClixSense is a “Get Paid To” (GPT) website which was founded in February 2007. It started as a Paid to Click website but over the course of time, ClixSense added new ways of making money like Crowdflower tasks, ClixSense offers and paid surveys which soon became very popular among its users.

On 17 July 2017, ClixSense changed its business model to discontinue their core business, PTC ads to concentrate on surveys, tasks and offers.

Is ClixSense Legitimate?

ClixSense is definitely a legitimate website that has an office in the US and is regulated by the strict US laws. It has been paying its members regularly since 2007. I am personally using ClixSense since October 2015, and I never had any issues with them.

However, the offers section of ClixSense shows offers from third party websites. I have seen reports that some of these offers provided by the third party websites are scams.

Please note that since these offers are run by third party companies, ClixSense has limited control over the offers available with them. So, there are real chances of it being a scam. 

According to a ClixSense user from Spain, free draws are run under the "Offers" Section by some people under the brand name of popular companies. When he contacted these brands they had no idea about the same. After some digging, he found out that these offers are being used to collect personal data from users.

So, my advise is that if you register with ClixSense, make sure to stay away from ClixSense offers.

However, availability of survey depends upon your geographic location as well as your demographics. Surveys are available in abundance for Tier 1 countries.

The Tier 1 country includes Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States.

Even people from developing countries like India get a lot of surveys. Below is the screenshot showing the number of surveys available to me at the time of writing this review.

The pay rate for a survey can vary considerably. Folks from Tier 1 countries can earn in the range of $0.8 to $5 for each survey.

The pay rates are lower for developing countries like India, Phillippines, Pakistan, and other countries not included in Tier 1. People from these countries get surveys which usually earn them $0.3 to $2.5 per survey.

1.1. How To Get More Surveys?

To ensure you get more surveys targeted for your country and demographics, you must fill up your survey profile. You can find the option for filling up your survey profile on the upper left corner of your survey page as shown in the image below.

1.2. Is It Safe To Share Personal Details With Survey Companies?

Most survey companies will ask you for more information like Age, Gender, Your Income, Details about your family, etc. It is safe to share such details as the companies will use this data only for statistics purpose.

If you are browsing the internet, you are anyways sharing such data with the website you surf. This is because 99% of websites including Google, Facebook, and Twitter use cookies to record your IP Address, your location, your approximate age, gender, details about the device you are using to access the internet, etc.

So as long as you are not sharing sensitive data like Credit Card Number, Bank Details, Contact Number or Email Id, it is totally safe.

1.3. Reason For Disqualification While Completing Surveys

As I said earlier, most surveys are targeted for a specific audience depending upon the geographic location and demographics.

Apart from this, there are various other factors that decide whether or not you are eligible for a survey. These factors include your qualification, your work status, your job profile, the number of people in your family, the technology you use to connect to the internet, the gadgets you own, etc. among others.

Usually, the first few questions of the survey will decide whether or not you are eligible for taking the survey.

If you have correctly filled up your survey profile, it will minimize the chances of you getting irrelevant surveys.

1.4. Time Taken For Your Account To Be Credited

You will receive the earnings for most of the surveys almost immediately in your ClixSense Account. Some surveys will take up to 5 minutes before you can see the earnings in your account.

However, there are few surveys which pay you only after 30 days. These surveys are marked with a Red Flag in front of them as shown in the image below

1.5. What To Do If You Do Not Receive Your Survey Earnings

If the survey is not marked with a red flag and you did not receive your earnings, you can check the status of a survey by clicking on History and support option at the top left corner of the surveys page as shown in the screenshot below.

This will open the following screen where you can see the status of various surveys along with other details.

Below is the explanation for each of the survey status

Completed: You have successfully completed the survey, and you will get paid for the same.

Screened Out: You were not eligible to complete the survey as you did not match the requirements for the same. For this option, you will also see the time you spent with answering the questions before you were screened out.

Unavailable: The survey was closed before you could complete it.

Quota Full: The survey reached the required number of participants before you complete the survey.

Started: You started the survey, but either you did not complete the survey, or due to some error you were not redirected to the ClixSense success page.

In most cases, if you complete the survey and do not get your earnings, the survey will be marked as "Started." If that is the case, you can click on the survey in question which will open up the following dialogue box

Clicking on "Click Here For Help" will allow you to raise your query with the customer support.

Note: You must always make sure to take a screenshot of your ClixSense Success page that you see after completing the survey. Uploading that screenshot while raising a support ticket will ensure you get paid for the survey in question.

1.6. Reason For Reversal Of Earnings

Most surveys companies use quality check questions and/or analyze your answers for uniformity. If the survey companies find out that you have either lied or selected random options, your earnings for the survey will be reversed.

It is, therefore, recommended that you be honest with your replies while taking the survey even if it means you qualify for fewer surveys.

2. Earn With ClixSense Tasks

ClixSense tasks are the best way for you to make money. This is especially true if you are not from Tier 1 countries mentioned above. Tasks at ClixSense are provided by a third party company, Figure Eight.

If you have observed the pictures of the top earners at ClixSense I shared earlier,​ most of them are very active task workers. This is because unlike surveys, tasks are not limited by location and demographics. They are just limited by your talent and the amount of time you can devote to working online.

You will be required to complete simple tasks like finding information on the internet, classifying products, judging the sentiments of the tweet, etc.

2.1 Do I need Skills For Completing Figure Eight Tasks?

Figure Eight tasks are not as easy as surveys. However, you do not require any special skills to complete these tasks.

To complete Figure Eight tasks, you just need the basic internet skills along with an ability to follow the instructions mentioned for completing each task.

2.2 How Do I Complete The Tasks?

To complete the tasks, select the "Complete Tasks" under the "Tasks" section of the ClixSense menu. 

You will now see a list of all the tasks available to you along with the level required to complete the task, Pay per task, the number of tasks available and the user rating for that task.

Click on the task you find to be interesting or the one that pays well.

You will now be taken to Figure Eight registration page which is a 3rd party solution which provides the tasks to ClixSense. Enter your credentials to sign up with Figure Eight and login to your account.

Once you sign-in, you will now be taken to the task page.

You will be provided with a set of instructions that you will help you understand what exactly you have to do. Each task page may contain multiple questions which you need to answer for completing the task

However, before you start completing your tasks, it is important to know various modes whiles completing ClixSense Tasks.

2.3. Different modes In ClixSense Tasks

Below are the three modes you will encounter while completing tasks.

a. Test Mode

Almost all the tasks contain test questions to check whether or not you have desired skills to complete the task. When you open a task, you will first enter the Test Mode.

To pass the test mode, you will have to complete the task with some degree of accuracy which will be specified on the top bar as shown in the screenshot below.

The above task contains 10 questions, and you have to answer 7 questions correctly, that is, maintain minimum 70% accuracy level to move to the next mode, that is "Work mode."

If you fail to answer 7 questions correctly, you will enter the "Expelled Mode."

The accuracy required to clear the test mode will be different for each task.

Note: You do not get paid for completing the task in the test mode.

b. Work Mode

Once you clear Test Mode, you will enter the work mode and start making money for each task that you complete in this mode.

However, in the work mode, you will get one random test question. If you get this question wrong, your overall accuracy will be affected.

Suppose you answer 7 out of 10 questions correctly in the task as mentioned earlier. Since your accuracy is 70%, you will enter the Work Mode.

But, if you fail to answer the test question in the work mode correctly, you will now have 7 out of 11 test questions correctly. Your accuracy will now be 66.66% which is less than the desired accuracy of 70%.

c. Expelled Mode

As the name suggests, in the expelled mode you will be barred from completing the particular task. You can, however, complete other tasks.

2.4. What Are Different Levels In Figure Eight Tasks

Figure Eight has a level system to bifurcate people completing the task as per their skills. This is to make sure employers have the choice of filtering less skilled people by restricting the tasks to a higher level task workers.

If you regularly complete the tasks with good accuracy, CrowdFlowe will promote you to higher levels.

Level 0: If you are just starting with Figure Eight tasks, you will be placed at Level 0. There are very few tasks available at this level.

So you must complete all the tasks available to you irrespective of whether they pay well or not. This will make sure you quickly move to Level 1 or above.

To Level up, you must answer at least 100 questions and complete 10 different tasks. Your overall accuracy will decide the level you are promoted to.

Level 1: Minimum 70% accuracy level needed

Level 2: Minimum 80% accuracy level needed

Level 3: Minimum 85% accuracy level needed.

You can check the number of questions you answered and you overall accuracy level by navigating to your Figure Eight Dashboard.

2.5. How Much Can I Earn With Figure Eight Tasks?

The amount of money you can earn with Figure Eight tasks depend on various factors. Some tasks can be completed very quickly while others take too much of time to complete for the same pay rate.

However, you can usually earn between $1 to $3 per hour with Figure Eight tasks. Add to it, you get a $5 bonus for every $50 you make with Figure Eight Tasks.

At Level 1 and above you will have enough tasks to keep you busy the whole day. So the earning potential is only limited by the time you can devote to complete the tasks.

There are many people who regularly complete over 4000 tasks in a month. You can check the list of Top Workers at ClixSense at the bottom of your Tasks Page.

As you can see above that the top task worker as completed 7514 tasks in last 30 days. It is difficult to judge how much he is earning per task. However, if you've seen the screenshot of the earnings of some of the ClixSense workers that I shared earlier, most of them are earning between 5 cents to 10 cents per task

Even if we consider an average of 5 cents per task, he must be making approx $375 per month. Add to it $5 bonus for earning every $50 with tasks and Earnings of up to $50/week from ClixSense Weekly Contest (Read Below)

With all put together and with a pessimistic approach, he must be earning anywhere between $300 -$500 per month. This income is not bad for a job that requires no technical skills.

2.6. What Is ClixSense Tasks Weekly Contest?

The ClixSense tasks weekly contest is a simple contest that runs from Monday to Sunday and rewards the top 10 tasks workers of the week. The prizes are distributed as follows

3. ClixSense Offers (You Must Avoid)

As discussed earlier, the ClixSense offers are likely to be scam as they are operated by third party companies outside ClixSense. So ClixSense has got no control over these offers.

Though not all such offers are scams, my advise is to stay away from ClixSense offers. This is especially because these offers might be used to collect your personal data in an illegal way.

4. ClixSense Daily Checklist Bonus

You can earn up to 16% daily bonus at ClixSense. So if your total earnings from Surveys, Tasks, and Offers is $1, you can earn up to $0.16 bonus.

The daily bonus consists of the following components

a. Daily Checklist

You can earn 16% bonus by completing the daily checklist. For availing the daily checklist bonus, you have to complete the following

• Complete at least 2 surveys/offers OR
• Complete at least 10 tasks OR
• Complete 1 survey/offer and 5 tasks.

b. ClixAddon Bonus

You can earn an additional bonus of 2% by installing the ClixAddon and running it for at least one hour. For more information on ClixAddon, you can refer the ClixAddon section of this guide.

c. Activity Bonus

To earn the Activity bonus of 2%, you have to complete the daily checklist for 3 consecutive days. You will continue to receive the bonus for as long as you are able to complete the daily checklist without any gap.

If you fail to complete the daily checklist for one day, the activity bonus will be reset.You will then have to complete the daily checklist again for 3 days before you can receive the bonus again. The following table explains daily checklist in a better way.

You may not get enough surveys, tasks and offers each day to complete the daily checklist.

To make sure that you are able to complete the daily checklist regularly, make sure you do not complete all the available ClixSense offers in a single day.

Rather save these offers to complete on days when you are not able to complete surveys and tasks for completing the daily checklist.

5. Earn Money Through ClixSense Affiliate Program

ClixSense has an affiliate program wherein you can earn money by referring others to use ClixSense. This is the best and also the toughest way to make money with ClixSense.

5.1. How Much Can I Earn With ClixSense Affiliate Program?

ClixSense does not restrict the amount you can earn with ClixSense Affiliate program. More the number of active referrals you have more will be your earnings.

The referral commission you can earn is divided into 2 categories

a. One Time Signup Commissions

ClixSense pays you a fixed commission whenever a person signs up to ClixSense and performs at least 3 actions on 3 different days.

To avoid misuse, ClixSense does not reveal any further details about the exact actions that your referral performs for you to be eligible to receive the signup commission. Even if you are eligible to receive the commission, you will receive it only after 10 days from the signup date.

If your referral is from Tier 1 nation, you will earn $0.3 as signup commission. The amount is $0.1 if your referral is from a country not listed in the list of Tier 1 countries.

You also receive an additional one-time commission of $2 as soon as your referrals earn $5 through surveys, tasks, and offers.

b. Activity Commission

You earn a commission of 20% whenever your referral completes a survey, a task or a ClixSense offer. The activity commission does not include any commissions, bonuses, and prizes.

So if your referral from Tier 1 country earns $5 with surveys, tasks, and offers, you will earn $0.3 signup bonus + $2 signup bonus + 20% of $5 = $3.3

5.2. How Does ClixSense Track My Referrals?

For each member, ClixSense provides a unique affiliate link. You can find the affiliate link in the "My Affiliate Details" section of your ClixSense Dashboard as shown in the screenshot below.

You can also use the shrink link option to shorten your affiliate link which is easy to remember and share.

5.3. How To Get ClixSense Referrals?

Getting new referrals for ClixSense does seem to be very easy, but it is not the case. The online world is full of scams, and when you promote ClixSense, most people will think of you as a scammer.

Unless you have a large number of friends or followers who believe your advice, this is not going to be an easy task. Having said that, nothing is impossible in this world.

So if you have the ability to win the trust of people, you can go ahead and promote ClixSense. After all, it does not cost you to promote it.

a. Who Should You Promote ClixSense To?

You can promote to ClixSense to anyone and everyone. However, not everyone has the time to complete surveys and tasks.

You can get better results by promoting ClixSense to

• Home-making moms who want to utilize their time efficiently.
• Retired professionals who have lots of free time to kill.

To maximize your earnings, you should try to promote ClixSense to individuals living in Tier 1 nations as they get more number of surveys.

1. Promote To Your Friends

This is the easiest way to promote ClixSense. Your friends know you and trust you. So it is easier for you to convince them to join ClixSense.

Do make sure to cash out your first earnings before you approach a friend. This is because, your friend does trust you, but he may still not trust ClixSense.

2. Create A Blog For Promoting ClixSense

If you have good writing skills, you can create a blog to promote ClixSense. However, getting referrals through a blog may take some time as you will have very few visitors to your blog in the beginning.

However, if you continue to write useful content and use SEO wisely to drive traffic to your blog, you will slowly start getting positive results. If you see the list of Top 50 ClixSense sponsors, most of them are promoting ClixSense through their blog.

You can always start a free blog on Blogger platform by Google. However, you will not be able to rank a free blog on Google search engine. Also, a free blog shows a lack of professionalism and people may not trust someone who is not an expert in the field.

For Facebook promotion, I suggest you create a new account. This is because your friends and family may get annoyed if you are aggressively promoting ClixSense.

You can also create a Facebook Page on "Making Money Online" or "Part Time Jobs" and get as many followers to the page as you can. If your page gets popular, you can earn a lot of referrals.

However, the downside of promoting ClixSense on social media is that social media posts are short lived. According to a study by Wiselytics, a Tweet has a half life of just 24 minutes, while it is around 90 minutes for a Facebook post.

So to make sure you get many referrals, you must continuously promote ClixSense on social media which can be very time-consuming.
